Description

We're planning local wifi and bluetooth connections for local repos. With NFC to kick of the interaction, the two sides can send all possible URIs, including local wifi and bluetooth, then each side can decide what works best for them. For example, device A has connected wifi and bluetooth enabled, while device B only has wifi enabled. B receives from A two URIs: one for https:// that includes the wifi config, the other for Bluetooth RFCOMM. B only has wifi enabled, so it ignores the Bluetooth RFCOMM URI, and tries the https:// one. B looks at the https:// URI for a query string of the wifi config, i.e. ?ssid=openwireless.org. B then checks whether it is also on openwireless.org. If so, the connection is made automatically, if not, it prompts the user to switch to openwireless.org.

I still hope that pure NFC is on the table - at least for exchange of repo metadata?
