It's not that it doesn't work, but the NMEA sentences are not compatible with what the location API expects. And this should only effect the timestamp, and not the lat/lng sensing. So, maybe this will require some roll-your-own NMEA sentence parsing. In the meanwhile, if timestamp is not available via NMEA, app defaults to System.currentTimeMillis().

Opening another ticket to investigate writing my own NMEA parser, but back-burner for now.
