bootstrapping via removable SD cards
If the device with FDroid has a removable SD card, and the receiving device does too, then that is a trusted channel for bootstrapping a device with an APK. We should include code that makes this process as easy as possible. It could be as simple as providing a menu option for copying the APK to the SD Card.
This would also work with USB OTG thumbdrives with micro SD plugs.

AFAIK one can still write to external_SD/Android/data/org.fdroid.fdroid.
Maybe not the right issue, but what about keeping loads of apps on an sdcard? For now, one can only swap apps that one already has installed but it would be great to keep a cache of useful apps and swap them too.

daithib8 that sounds like also a useful feature to have. The danger would be exposing that function in the UI would make it a lot more complicated for most users, so I think that feature would remain out of the GUI. Come to think of it, I think that it would just be a matter of copying the APKs into the right place, then the local repo generator would just add all APKs in the @fdroid/repo/ folder to the index, regardless of who or what put them there.
