On a somewhat related note, if you use a server that support XEP-0198, you will not lose messages. XEP-0198 allows the server and client to queue messages and sync up on reconnect.

Does XEP-0198 work with OTR? It does not for me. I am chatting with another CS user and get LOTS OF lost messages on dukgo.com or jabber.ccc.de (the XEP-0198 indicator in the upper right corner is green and checked). I assume this is because I am on a Nexus 4 with android 4.2.2 and therefore have the WiFi bug, but there shouldn't be lost messages if XEP-0198 worked with OTR, right?

  • Target version set to v13 - October Oooya

The green checkmark is for XEP-0184. It means that end-to-end delivery receipts are working. There is no retransmit on those.

AFAIK, only the prosody server software has XEP-0198 support and I don't think that either dukgo.com or jabber.ccc.de support it.

Should we consider retransmit on XEP-0184? The spec recommends against it but perhaps we can extend it.
