(ObscuraCam Build) New projects freeze when opened

Description
I followed the following instructions to start a new story:
Rick,
I suspect the overlay screen is crashing. To be sure can you try this:
- take a picture of someone using the stock android camera
- open story maker
- open the navigation drawer on the left
- select Stories
- push "New" in the top right
- push the second button in "Chose a medium" for picture mode
- make sure "simple story" is selected
- push "Start my story"
At this point, StoryMaker hangs on a black screen. Frozen. I force closed StoryMaker, and restarted the phone. After doing so, I found the project in my project tray, and I tried to open it again. The same thing happened.
Happy to discuss further. I had alogrec turned on, but the file it created was 0kb. So I'm going to look into getting a new log recorder, and try again tomorrow.

can't reproduce on my Nexus 10 either

Also nexus 4. Will test other devices if available here otherwise arc fee may be able to test HTC one v at the office

there was some rogue debugging code causing issues when run not attached to the debugger. removed.
