Video Template Sample¶
I created the edited sequence from 6 video files. The videos were recorded with the default android app, shooting at 1080p.

The settings for the sequence are as follows. The audio rate is 48kHz, 16-bit depth, with a channel grouped config. The editing timebase is 29.97, which means 29.97 frames per second. (This will be important when I discuss the transitions between clips later.)
Plain text explanation of the edit:
On all cuts the audio will need to be faded. The only thing that will change is how long the crossfade will be.
The video fades in for one second, (both audio and video) to an establishing shot of Brian walking towards the office and holds for 7 seconds as Brian walks through the parking lot. The video cuts, while the audio does a 12 frame audio crossfade. The video plays for another 7 seconds while Brian walks up to the keypad at the door. The video cuts in for a close up of brian at the keypad, but the audio stays the same as the shot from the wide. Brian punches in the password, this shot lasts for 4 seconds, and then it cuts back to the wide shot of Brian walking into the office building. Another video cut with an audio crossfade as Brian walks down a hallway for 4 seconds, as he walks in the door, we have another video cut with an audio transition.
As Brian enters he says "hey steve, love the new office." with an L cut taking place at the end of this shot. There is a 5 second shot of Steve, as he says "Glad you like it, we have way better internet then in Libya." The video then has a closing audio and video crossfade for one second.
The video contains 7 edit points in total. 2 video crossfades with accompanying audio fades. 3 cuts with audio crossfades. 1 B roll shot inserted and 1 L cut with an accompanying audio crossfade.
I ran into a pretty serious issue with the L cut. Exporting it from Final Cut pro, it produces a visual noise issue you'll see in the video at the 26 second mark, I've included a .jpg of the artifacting as well. This seems like a codec issue with final cut, but does not bode well for creating L cuts with android.
