Simple Story - Video

The goal of the simple story is to tell a story with five clips.

Clip 1 - Signature

Shot Size: Detail
Goal: Introduce the story with an essential detail.
Length: 15 seconds
Description: Get close to an object, action, or person and capture a memorable detail to summarize your story in one shot. This element should fill at least 50% of the frame.
Tip: If you are too close to the action, your phone’s camera may not be able to focus. Keep the camera at arm’s length from your subject.

Clip 2 - Activity

Artwork: ???.svg
Shot Size: Long
Goal: Capture the character in action.
Length: 20 seconds
Description: Step back. This shot should be wide enough to depict the character from head to toe in their location. The character should fill 20% of your frame.
Tip: Keep your character on one of the vertical lines to frame your shot properly.

Clip 3 - Interview

Artwork: ???.svg
Shot Size: Close
Goal: Ask the character to tell you a story. Capture emotion.
Length: User Defined (i.e. However long their interview is, that's how long this should be for now)
Description: Get close enough to ensure you have good sound and and can see their face clearly. The character should fill at least 50% of the frame.
Tip: Place your character on one side of the frame, frame your shot to show something else important to the story on the other side.

Clip 4 - Interaction

Artwork: ???.svg
Shot Size: Medium
Goal: Show an interaction between the character and their world.
Length: 15 seconds
Description: Let the camera observe the character relating to friends, their work, demonstrating their knowledge, or completing an action. The character should fill at least 30% of the frame.
Tip: Use the eye-line to frame your shot properly.

Clip 5 - Environmental

Artwork: ???.svg
Shot Size: Wide
Goal: Show us where your story takes place.
Length: 15 seconds
Description: Include landmarks or other location specific information. Environmental video may indicate the country or an ethnic or religious element. The character will fill no more than 10% of the frame.
Tip: Place your camera directly in front of the primary location you are filming. Landmarks help the audience understand their location.
