J3M View, Sketches

Here's a first take.

Note: This one doesn't include anything about multiple snapshots.

A quick recap from my talk with Dave Friday morning:

On the map:
There's the micro view and the macro view
- bluetooth (5-10 ft)
- wifi (30 ft)
- cell towers (region view)

We can always have the satellite view; we can sometimes have the street view.

We need to:
- Represent the networks on the map; the goal is to show the geographic context around you.
- Show speed and direction that someone is moving before/after the photo is taken.
- We need to know the scenario here.
How do we create the relationship between multiple accelerometer points and the time the photo is taken to give something useful about the snapshot?
- Give, or make available, exif data (metadata for the camera)

Below it the second take of this design. Comments are welcome.

What's new, you ask?
- the header can expand and collapse to show or hide any text that is attached to the photo
- search for similar photos (this has the same functionality as 'filter' that is currently on the site; however, it's framed with near time and place to help the lawyers find evidence that is most likely related to the photo/video they are looking at. Comments welcome.)
- more prominent view of the map
- satellite and map toggles for the map view (I'm assuming that we'll start super basic here, and won't be doing much, if any customization to the map itself. So whichever, what will actually be displayed are the Google map or Open Street map toggles, depending on which we use.)
- link to camera exif data (need the screen mockup that shows that info)
- share history
- temperature and light data

Different states of the header:

Any chance I can get this as an SVG or with the icons broken out?

Hey Nate! Absolutely. I've attached .svg files of the design as well as separate .svgs for the icons.

Below is an early visualization I did to explore how cell towers, wifi, bluetooth, and movement could be visualized on the map at their relevant scales. In this image, the cell tower, wifi and bluetooth are shown as a snapshot of data; time is not a factor.

That is excellent. I think having submaps showing different subset of data makes sense, rather then just jamming it all on one map.

I really like the movement view. I am hoping to be able to get some of that working this week.

Here's a screenshot of the latest working code.

You will notice we have chosen not to display the media by default, and instead just focus on the data and analytics. We don't want people to think that this is a YouTube/Flickr media hosting type service, and rather, we'd like to be seen as a data view of rich media.

Anyhow, still working towards your full vision... getting closer!
