Description
I've been running with orbot for a couple weeks on my Nexus 6P, last night I tried to start the same install of orbot I've been running again after rebooting. (Version 15.0.1-RC-3-PIE - 7/18/15 - 8.0MB, from F-Droid, see issue #5521 to see how I got to this version) It seemed to start normally, then I got a message in the system tray which had an icon of a stopsign with an exclamation mark and the message "unable to start tor".
I re-started the phone, opened orbot and got the same message again. I copied the text from the menu and had the following:
Unable to start Tor: net.freehaven.tor.control.TorControlError: Error reply: Authentication failed: Authentication cookie did not match expected value. Set background service to FOREGROUND TorService is shutting down Using control port to shutdown Tor sending HALT signal to Tor process Orbot is deactivated
I tried stopping and restarting the connection and then had the following:
Unable to start Tor: net.freehaven.tor.control.TorControlError: Error reply: Authentication failed: Authentication cookie did not match expected value. Set background service to FOREGROUND TorService is shutting down Using control port to shutdown Tor sending HALT signal to Tor process Orbot is deactivated Orbot is starting… Orbot is starting… updating settings in Tor service updating torrc custom configuration... success. Not sure what all that means, but at the end I still have the failure message in my system tray and no tor connection.
