Description

The devs are in denial. orbot has showstopper problems with TouchUI when WiFi is enabled and Android Settings, whether or not WiFi is enabled, on Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 running Samsung Android 4.4.2. Previously worked AOK on Samsung Android 4.1.2.

This is MORE than some conflict with Samsung Link, which isn't even installed on this Tab 3. This is more than some conflict with com.sec.android.nts.{WTF}, which isn't present at all, on Tab 3 KitKat.

THE ORBOT CONFLICT IS WITH THE ANDROID TOUCH UI, WHEN WIFI IS ENABLED, AND ANDROID SETTINGS, WHETHER OR NOT WIFI IS ENABLED.

If orbot is installed, Tab 3 battery drain goes up EXPONENTIALLY, whether or not WiFi is enabled.

orbot has conflicted, for months and months running, on Samsung GS4 running Sprint/Samsung Android 4.4.2, whenever WiFi is enabled, WITH NO FIXES IN SIGHT.

Tested every release of orbot up to snd including 14.0.8.1.

Stop blaming SAMSUNG... PLEASE ASK GOOGLE FOR HELP.

GOOGLE JUST DONTATED A CHUNK OF CASH TO THE TOR PROJECT IN 2014. ORBOT DESPERATELY NEEDS MORE THAN $$$. ADMIT DEFEAT AND ASK GOOGLE FOR HELP ON FIXING THESE CRIPPLING BUGS.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 uses an INTEL Processor, which Orbot does not support. Not sure why it can be installed on there, as it should now.

Regardless, we are NOT in denial. Samsung's version of Android is full of problems and bloatware, that is beyond our resources to debug. If you want to use Tor on a mobile device, we suggest you install a clean ROM version on your Samsung devices.

That is not to say it doesn't work on Samsung devices. We ourselves have Note 1 and 2, Tab 2, and Galaxy S3 and S4. It works here, so not sure what additional conflicts exist on your system.

first thanks for the great Orbot toolset!
There are several hardware versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.
The budget versions runs on ARM Cortex, and I am experiencing problems with Orbot as well.

Cheers

remark: Orbot has been reported to run on Samsung Tab3 with Android 4.1.2
So problems seemingly are not related related with hardware, but with Samsung Android 4.4.2
