I have Caller Detail Records enabled for both individual users and a master record of all calls. IP addresses are not recorded. The attributes logged are the following:

  • ${caller_id_name}
  • ${caller_id_number}
  • ${destination_number}
  • ${context}
  • ${start_stamp}
  • ${answer_stamp}
  • ${end_stamp}
  • ${duration}
  • ${billsec}
  • ${hangup_cause}
  • ${uuid}
  • ${bleg_uuid}
  • ${accountcode}
  • ${read_codec}
  • ${write_codec}

For this particular issue, the "hangup_cause" and "duration" are particularly interesting as they measure the reason for call termination and how long the call lasted. Also the "start_stamp" and "answer_stamp" show the amount of time between when the caller rang the called and when the called answered. This should be enough information to learn some things about usability by measuring the success of actual calls.

The UUIDs of each leg and extensions do leak information about the caller and called parties, though nothing about their geographical location.

Can we also add a "Report Bugs" link on the homepage, and or keep this link handy to share?

https://dev.guardianproject.info/projects/ostel/issues/new

The new Guardian-Dev site doesn't require registration, so we may get a lot of "anonymous" bug reports via this method.

Otherwise, we'll work up a user survey that can be done as a Google Form or something of that nature.

All of this data, can be paired with what you are logging, Lee.

Mark is working on a user survey via survey monkey. This can be sent out periodically if needed. How often should it be sent out?

I've drafted a survey to be sent out to users in a form via google forms or fluidsurveys (which uses ssl).

It might be best to direct most users to the or to the wiki. In the wiki we can have the official bug tracker. I just don't want users to be overwhelmed or scared off by redmine.

Agreed. The support email is working so direct users the

We can send the first survey out in two weeks or so
or in one week after we know a user has made a few calls.

Related to that, since this is an alpha testbed, we must proide notice thay we are loggingsome data.

  • Due date set to 04/30/2012
  • Target version changed from Alpha Testbed Launch v1 to Alpha Testbed - Update 1

Moving to "Update 1" as that is about when we want to send the survey out to gather feedback.
