Description

This is not a blocker for me at the moment, but I believe we decided before the ToT in december that users should not have to log into storymaker.cc to publish. It seems this is the reason i cannot currently pulish.

So you can publish to YouTube w/o publishing to StoryMaker.cc?

#2 Updated by baghdadbrian almost 5 years ago

at the moment i cannot publish anywhere. if i say "skip login" it pulls up the old page to select my youtube account, but then immediately disappears, and when i click publish it tries to log me in again.

Okay now I remember... the goal was to simplify the publish process, since many people were confused by the various options.

So, PUBLISH means "Publish to StoryMaker" which means upload to YouTube or SoundCloud then post directly to StoryMaker.cc.

Now, if you want to just upload it somewhere without sending to StoryMaker.cc, you can now do "Export" which has a "SHARE" and "PLAY" option. SHARE brings up all the typical apps on Android available for uploading directly to wherever you would like.

Share button is now in the release builds, which allows users to publish their content through any other app on their phone.

  • Target version changed from Beta 3 to Bugs

I renamed this bug and reopened it.

Right now, if I create a story, and click publish, I have to select an email account, which first of all is super confusing-see attached image(can the app just connect directly to the account attached to the user's device?). Next, if I'm not logged in, and I log in, it does not continue to publish, but instead reverts back to the previous Publish screen. I submit that once you log in, the app should just start publishing to YouTube. I'm hoping this problem is just because of a piece of code that is missing to initiate the upload but not sure.

Now for extra points, when the user doesn't even have an account, he/she must create a new account, go to email, add the code, etc. and once complete, again, instead of publishing, it reverts to the publish screen.

I know this will be fixed sometime in the coming months as part of the OTF funding, but if its a simple fix to at least initiate publish after you sign in, that would be a huge bonus as we continue to try to grow users in coming months.
