Meeting Agenda January 22, 2013 PLEASE NOTE: Due to the technical problems during the call, the notes may not be completely accurate. Please feel free to make corrections where needed. Attendees: Bethel, Niels, Brian, Steve, Nathan Record Meeting Minutes: Bethel 1. Introductions – New attendee: Bethel 2. Updates: a) Niels +Bethel: no updates b) Brian (joined the call late) c) Steve c.1. Zimbabwe proposal – working on a redesign proposal. c.2. Waiting on some content that needs to be published. c.3. Assignments- had a discussion with Brian and wants to have some basic criteria for the trainers. Will get the assignments into the wiki. d) Nathan d.1. Update on Dev Sprint 4: Will work on getting the tickets updated or closed in the next 3 days. Move the lesson content from Guardian server to StoryMaker server. d.2. Struggling with the left to right Arabic navigation. Looking for an Arabic navigation localization expert. 3. Group talk: (This section addresses concerns and questions. We thought we would try to deal with these issues during our call before inserting comments into the Google doc.: a) What server will the StoryMaker site be on? a.1. Steve is okay with hosting it on a separate StoryMaker site. a.2. Nathan proposes a StoryMaker site that explains the app. b) If we allow users to create separate sites how will the app know what website to upload to? b.1. Nathan suggests there would be an option to enter the domain you want to upload to. b.2. Brian suggests that there should not be many instances of StoryMaker. (Niels dropped off the call) 4. Should we have an open v closed beta version to be released to users before the public beta? This is meant to get users using the app and start giving feedback for the improvement of the development. A form can be created where users can contribute their feedback. We can also get their feedback on the Story Management System and see if this is something they want. a.1. Nathan thinks that more people should be using the app. And that it should be available in Google play soon. a.2. Steve is concerned about security. Suggests having warning screens in the beta version. a.3. Brian doesn’t feel it is ready right now, but it may be in February to launch. a.4. Bethel emphasized that this project is about the users and that it should be available as soon as possible.. SHOULD WE SET INDICATORS PERHAPS? HOW/WHEN ARE WE GOING TO MAKE THIS DECISION? 6. We should create an integrated how to on how to upload videos to multiple accounts through the StoryMaker app. Example: If someone doesn't have a YouTube account and wants to upload to YouTube, how will this happen? Since the user has to create a StoryMaker account they may get confused and think this automatically allows them to post to several places (YouTube, Facebook, etc.). a.5. Steven suggests we focus on getting the documentation for the trainings and then incorporate the how-to's into the next design. a.6. Bethel thinks we should keep in mind the people who won’t be participating in the trainings. LET'S TAKE THIS UP WITH RAMSEY, HE CAN HELP MAKE WALKTHROUGHS AND SET. 7. Do we want to license access to StoryMaker users? a.7. Brian thinks we should. Suggests that there are some creative ways users can push content out to different media/platforms. a.8. Bethel emphasizes that this is not a priority for the project right now. 8. When will the next build be available? a.1. Nathan – us not sure that three days is enough for Dev Sprint 4, based on stability and features. 9. Should we create a division of tasks for Global Voices and the National Traning Centers? Do we have any tasks to assign Ramsey George from Global Voices? (Ramsey will be doing coaching and mentoring). a.1. Steven- suggests we schedule a call with Ramsey.. a.2. Brian suggests waiting for the next sprint until we have something better. 10. Next steps: (To be filled in) Bethel: Schedule a call with Ramsey, Steven, Bethel, Niels? Brian/Nathan: Get an update on app to Niels Niels/Bethel: Add remarks on roles and responsibilities to Google doc. Steve: Will work on the assignments and the redesign of Zimbabwe proposal. Pending: 1. How/who will migrate Storymaker to Storymaker.cc 2. Who is going to make the general StoryMaker website, explaining app, concept, licenses, etc? (Who will pay for it? => THIS FLOWS AUTMATICALLY FROM THAT) 3. When will we release the app, based on what preconditions/indicators 4. How will we do the launch of the app in terms of communications? 5. How will we use and integrate the feedback from users? E-mail? Bug tickets? Reports?
